Perseus and Medusa!

I am very proud of 4IM today, all their hard work has paid off and they did very well in their class assembly. Here are a few pictures in case you didn’t make it.

Another week over…

…Year 4 is really flying by.

Today we looked at suffixes in our spelling lessons (see the spellings page foe the words we’re looking at) and how sometimes the consonant on the end of a word is doubled when adding the suffix.

In our times table test this week we had some questions were inverse problems. Remember, if you know your times tables well enough you should easily be able to find the answer to simple division problems too.

PE

4IH had a great afternoon in PE today. To begin with, we played a game of football dodgeball.

Following this, we played beanbag bombardment: the children had to make it the whole length of the cage whilst avoiding the incoming dodgeballs from the other teams. If they made it that far, they could then bring a beanbag back to their team’s hoop.
Finally, for the children who still had energy, we played a brief game of football. It was very pleasing to see some of the girls get stuck in with the boys. A special mention should go to Jannah who was a rock at the heart of her defence.

A Busy Wednesday in 4IM!

An action packed day today.

This morning we looked at reading analogue clocks and then converting them to a 12 hour digital clock.

In English we looked at propositional phrases and “read” the start of our new (wordless) story.

In the afternoon, half the class did forest school, while the other half practiced typing up their Greek Myths on iPads.

Then we had a visit from Romilly and Ben who told us all about their adventure so far. They shared stories, pictures and objects from their travels with us.

Finally, a reminder that our class assembly is next Friday (25th May) at 9.30. I know the children would love as many of their parents/carers as can make it in to see what they’ve been working on.

Maths

This morning in maths we looked at problems which involved converting between days, weeks, months and years.

For example…

Days-weeks picture.PNG

First of all, you would need to work out how many days are in 7 weeks, by multiplying the number of weeks by the number of days in a week (7). Then we need to add the remaining days on to get the total number of days, which in this case is 131 days.

How do you think you would solve this one?
